Chart Window Overview

You can use the Chart window to view basic information about a stock, such as the high, low, opening, and closing prices for a specified time period. You can also use the Chart window to:
 

 

NOTE: You can scroll a chart horizontally if it exceeds the width of the window. By default, the chart will "snap to the right" when you release it, displaying the most recent data. You can turn off the Snap to Right feature if you want the chart to stay where you scrolled it.

 

Opening the Chart window

To view the Chart window, click the   button from the main window.

The following table contains a description of each field on the Toolbar menu:

 

Toolbar Icon

Description

Crosshair - use to click on the chart and display the values of a specific point on the chart

Select - Use to select, move, or delete a trend line or label.

Trend line -  Use to create a trend line

Snap to price trend line - Use to create a trend line whose end snaps to the days closing price

Best fit trend line - Use the Least-Squares method to draw create a line in the average of the selected end points.

Label - Click to type a text label on the chart

Clear Markup - Click to clear all trend lines and labels from the chart

Show Values -  Click to show the Value table

Snap View Right - Click to extend the chart to right-most portion of the Chart window

View left and right axis - Click to view both the left and right axis markers

Hide both axis - Click to hide the left and right axis markers

View Left axis only - Click to view the left axis marker

View right axis only - Click to view the right axis marker

Increase horizontal spacing - Click to increase the horizontal spacing of the chart

Decrease horizontal spacing - Click to decrease the horizontal spacing of the chart

Scale horizontal to view - Click to scale the horizontal view of the chart to fit the Chart window

Scale vertical to view - Click to scale the vertical view of the chart to fit the Chart window
