You can customize the types of stories that appear in the News window. For example, you can list only stories that match the stock symbols you pick. You can also view stories from past days.
You can create a list of criteria to display news stories. This is helpful if you are only interested in news stories that pertain to specific stock symbols or contain certain keywords.
Perform the following to set the display options for the News
window:
Right-click the News window to view the News window pop-up menu.
Click Setup.
The News Setup window - General
Tab appears.

You can use the Query Expression field to type search expressions (AND, OR, NOT) for news stories to appear in the News window.
If you want to
show stories that contain a list of keywords, type the word "AND"
in between each word.
For example, if you want to display news stories that contain "MSFT"
and "Report", type "MSFT AND Report" into the search
field.
If you want to
show stories that contain any word from a list or words, use the search
expression "OR".
For example, if you want to display news stories that contain "MSFT"
or the word "Report", type "MSFT OR Report"
If you want to
exclude stories that contain a specific search word, use the search expression
"NOT".
For example, if you want to display news stories that contain the word
"MSFT" and do not contain the word "Report", type
"MSFT NOT Report".
You can use the Query
Wizard to create lists of symbols, keywords, words, or phrases
that a story must contain to show in the News
window. For example, you can setup a list of the stocks you currently
hold and view only stories that are associated with those stocks.
You can create a symbol watch list, which is a list of symbols that
stories must match in order to display on the News
window. To add symbols or keywords to the Symbol/Keyword watch list, perform
the following in the Symbol/Keyword
section:
Click the Query Wizard option button so that it is selected
Perform one or both of the following:
If you want to display stories for specific symbols or that match keywords contained in each story, type a symbol or keyword into the Symbol/Keyword field
Click the
to add the symbol or keyword to the list.
NOTE:
To remove symbols or keywords from the symbol watch list, click the item
you want to remove and then click the
button.
You can create a list of words and phrases that
stories must contain in order to appear in the News
window. To add words or phrases to the watch list, perform the following
in the Story Word/Phrase section:
Click the Query Wizard option button so that it is selected
Perform one or both of the following:
If you want to display stories that contain specific words or phrases, type a word or phrase into the Story Word/Phrase field
Click
the
to add the symbol or keyword to the list.
NOTE:
To remove symbols from the symbol watch list, click the symbol you want
to remove and then click the
button.
Perform the following as necessary in the Symbol/Keyword and Story Word/Phrase list sections:
To create a new list, click the
button
To open an existing watch list, click the
button
To save the current watch list, click the
button. The Save
window appears. Type the name of the watch list and then click the Save button.
You can select whether stories must match any or all symbols and keywords in order to appear on the News window. Perform the following
From the Show Headlines - Symbols drop-down list, select whether displayed stories must contain any or all symbols in the watch list
From the Show Headlines - And/Or drop-down list, select whether displayed stories must match the criteria either or both symbol and keyword lists
From the Show
Headlines - Keywords drop-down list, select whether displayed stories
must contain any or all keywords in the keyword list
Click the OK button to save your settings and close the window.
