The convert intention function of Ultimate Trader automatically changes an order request to the correct type, as the order is forwarded to the order entry system. The following is a list of the changes made to orders by the convert intention feature:
The convert intention changes an order request as it is forwarded from a market data function window (Market Maker, Market Depth, Market Minder, Blotter, and Option Chain) into the order entry system. The process of forwarding the order request can be referred to as "loading the order entry." An order request can be forwarded by clicking on a bid or ask column in a function window or by a place order speed key. Convert Intention can be enabled in one of two ways: through the global order entry configuration or associated with the Place Order Speed Key. The Place Order Speed Key setting will always override the global order entry configuration. The current behavior is as follows:
If there is no position for the symbol being forwarded or the position is flat:
Sell To Close (sell) will become Sell To Open (short)
If there is a short position:
Buy To Open (buy) becomes Buy To Close (cover).
Sell To Close
(sell) becomes Sell To Open (short).
Perform the following to enable the convert intention feature:
Right-click the Order Entry window. The Order Entry pop-up menu appears
Click Convert Intention so that a check mark appears. You will notice a "C" in the title bar of the Order Entry window and on the Order Load panel if it is enabled.
Convert Intention can be enabled in one of two ways: through the global order entry configuration or associated with the Place Order Speed Key. The Place Order Speed Key setting will always override the global order entry configuration.
NOTE: Intentions will not be converted once loaded into the Order Entry window.
