To create an order using the values on the Market Minder window:
With the Market Minder window open and displaying the symbol you want to buy or sell, perform one of the following
If you already own stock of the selected symbol, click in the Bid column to create a short order
If you do not already own stock of the displayed symbol, click in the Bid column to create sell order.
Click the Ask column to create a buy order
Notes:
The following action occur when the Order Load panel is not displayed on the Market Maker or Market Depth windows:
Alt-clicking on a Bid will create a buy order on the Order Entry window.
Alt-clicking on an Ask will create a sell order on the Order Entry window.
Ctrl-clicking on a Bid will create a sell-Limit (LMT) order on the Order Entry window.
Ctrl-clicking on an Ask will create a buy-Limit (LMT) order on the Order Entry window.
The symbol and
price automatically appear on the
Order Entry window and the Buy or Sell
option button is selected to reflect the order you want to place.

Complete the order information on the Order Entry window by performing the following:
In the Quantity field, type the amount of securities to use for the transaction.
Perform the following as necessary:
From the Order Method drop-down list, select the order method to use.
From the Price Type field, select the price type of the transaction.
From the Price field, type in the price to execute
the transaction.
NOTE: This field will be unavailable if the Price
Type drop-down list is set to Market (MKT) or Limit (LMT) order.
When placing a stop-market or stop-limit order, type or select the stop price in the Stop Price field
When placing a trailing-stop order, type or select the trailing amount in the Trailing Delta field.
From the TIF: (Time In Force) field, select the amount of time for the transaction to be valid.
If you want to direct the order to a specific exchange for which there is no route button, click the Use check box so that a check mark appears and then type the exchange ID into the Exchange ID field.
If necessary change the order type option buttons to buy, sell, short, or cover the order.
Click the routing button for
the exchange you want to use. If you want the system to automatically
route the order, click the Auto
button.
NOTE: If you are using the Preference
field to select an exchange, click the Auto
button.
The Order
Confirmation window appears.

NOTE: The OK button of the Confirm Place Order window will appear in the following colors to indicate the type of transaction you are initiating:
- Green OK
button indicates you are placing a Buy
order
- Red OK
button indicates you are placing a Sell
order
- Blue OK
button indicates you are placing a Short order
- Brown OK
button indicates you are placing a Cover order
Verify the transaction information is correct and click the OK button to confirm the order. The results of the order will appear in the Order Status window.
TIP: You can also add a speed key to quickly place an order.
