Frequently Asked Questions about Order Entry

What is the difference between the routes?

See Trading Routes.

How can I tell if I have any open orders?

You can use the Blotter window to view all of your orders for the day. To view only Open positions, right click the Blotter window so that the pop-up menu appears. Click Setup to view the Blotter Setup window. Click the Hide Closed Positions check box to place a check mark. Click OK to save the settings.  The Blotter window will now display only Open positions.

Is there a way to set up an alarm, audio or visual, which will confirm that my order has been executed?

Not for a specific order, but you can use the Order Status window to view when an order is placed, cancelled, executed, or completed.

Can Ultimate Trader notify me when a stock reaches a certain price?

Yes. You can setup an alarm to notify you when a stock reaches a certain price.

Can I change the default 1000 shares in the Quantity field to another amount?

Yes. You can change this and other default settings on the Order Entry Setup window. You can also temporarily change the default number of shares in the Order Load panel (located on the Market Maker and Market Depth windows) by pressing the backslash key "\" followed by the new default quantity, for example type "\2500" to change the default quantity to 2500. Click here for more information about default quantity functionality.
